NASW-CA Online Program: Regarding accommodations for online courses
The NASW-CA Chapter Online Continuing Education Program does not currently include a built-in audio feature to convert written content into speech. However, individuals who prefer or need to listen to content—such as those with dyslexia, other learning disabilities, or auditory learning preferences—can use free text-to-speech (TTS) tools. One recommended option is Read Aloud, a free Chrome extension that reads web content aloud.
All courses in the program are clearly labeled with the format used in their content. Next to each course title, you will find a format indicator:
Text-based: Written content only
Mixed-media 1: Includes short video clips with closed captioning
Mixed-media 2: Includes recorded video from live presentations without closed captioning
Each course description also outlines the course content, which may include online readings, case vignettes, reader exercises, and web-based video clips.
We recommend that interested practitioners register for one of the free courses first to experience how the platform works before enrolling in a paid course. Courses are self-paced and accessible 24/7 from your personal device.
If you're looking for additional options, you may also visit the NASW National office’s Social Work CE Institute, a separate online platform that offers both recorded and live webinars—often at a discounted rate for NASW members.
